Worcester Bosch ignition lockout

This is a video of a Worcester Bosch Greenstar Junior/Si boiler with ignition lockout.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar Junior and Si boilers don’t show a conventional “fault code” when they have an issue, the front display lights flash in a certain sequence to indicate a fault .

This can make it harder for homeowners and even engineers to understand what is wrong with the boiler.

Ignition lockout on a Worcester Bosch boiler means that the burner has failed to ignite and the boiler has shut down.

Ignition lockout is the most common fault on Worcester Bosch boilers, when Greenstar Junior/Si boilers go to ignition lockout the display lights flash in the following sequence;

The reset light flashes continuously and the blue oval light at the bottom of the display is mostly off and exhibits a slow flash every few seconds.

If you look in the installation manual it states the following;

Gas present and at correct pressure?

• Gas valve – Check that there is approximately 27V d.c. to each solenoid – Check the resistance of each solenoid: Top solenoid = 380 S + 10% (342 – 418 S) Bottom solenoid = 190 2 10% (171 – 209 2)

• Combustion CO2 level. • Flue condition. – Blocked flue? • Blocked condensate pipe or frozen condensate.

• Gas valve adjustment.

• Ignition electrodes/harness/connections. – Check for condition and resistance of leads (approximately 2100 S2)

• Otherwise replace control

If you are an end user you can check the following;

1) You have no issues with the gas supply.

2) Ensure that you have no issues with an external frozen condensate pipe. Aside from that you will have to call a heating industry professional to have a look at your boiler.
