Vaillant ecoTEC printed circuit board failure symptoms
This video demonstrates one of the early waring signs of printed circuit board(pcb) failure on first generation Vaillant ecoTEC Pro combi boiler manufactured between 2005 and 2011.
The temperature readout on the display is erratic and constantly reading a different temperature, which is indicative of a printed circuit board that will more than likely fail at some point in the near future.
The reason for the temperature on the display jumping around erratically is that the transformers on the printed circuit board(pcb) are starting to fail.
When the transformers start to fail they don’t give the temperature sensors the right voltage.
As such the printed circuit board keeps getting a different reading back from the sensors.
This is something to be aware of when servicing a Vaillant ecoTEC boiler because if the printed circuit board is at this stage, it could be ready to fail and any point causing the boiler to stop working.
Just turning off the power to a printed circuit board when it’s at this point can be enough to make the printed circuit board fail completely.
This would often result in an F61 fault code, or F62 fault code.
